"Simply," said Director.
"That's the 'how'? Simply?" asked Student.
"Yes."
"Then who is the 'who'?"
"Someone you are in love with."
"Simple truth from someone you're in love with," said Friend, pretending to mull it over. "Yes, that ought to touch just about anyone. Do you surrender, Student?"
Student rubbed his chin. "I suppose I must. That's irresistible."
"So now do you see your calling, your work, your responsibility?" asked Director.
"What do you mean?"
"People, for some inscrutable reason, seem, on occasion, to fall in love with you. That's a sort of natural resource. What will you do with it?"
Student frowned. "Well, I'm not going to exploit it, if that's what you're suggesting."
"Is it exploitation merely to touch?" asked Friend.
"I guess not." He scratched his head. "So what are you telling me, I have to tell these people the truth, simply?"
"Yes," said Director.
"The truth about what?"
"That's the question, now, isn't it?"
