"I think," said Lawyer, "it sometimes results in explosions of temper."
"How is it I haven't been killed by one of these explosions?" asked Director.
"You're smart enough to bring them on in public places."
"And why is it I haven't been assassinated after the fact, the victim of carefully planned revenge?"
"Who knows why? Maybe you one day will."
"But I know why," said Student. "When people cool down and think about what Director has said they many times find they agree."
Lawyer looked at Student doubtfully. He turned to Director. "You must learn, my friend, to pick what you say and to whom you say it more carefully, extremely carefully."
"Good advice, counselor. Extremely carefully. Got it." A great, big grin spread across his face.
Lawyer shook his head but couldn't help smiling. "That grin just might get you killed one day, you know."
"Are you hoping I'll die nice, and safe, and warm in bed?"
Now Student, too, shook his head but smiled. "Just promise you'll say what you say, whatever it is, with a straight face!"
Director held up his hands in mock surrender. "Okay, okay - at least until I see the effect my words have. Then it's up to me what my face does. Is it a deal?"
"Deal," said Student.
"Deal," said Lawyer.
They sealed it with a hearty laugh.
