"Why do you ask?" asked Student.
"Why, in any totalitarian regime there's bad luck, luck, and good luck. Didn't you know?"
Student shook his head. "What is bad luck?"
"That which makes you fall out with the regime."
"So good luck puts you in the regime's good graces?"
"Exactly. So what is plain, simple luck?"
"Neutral luck. Luck that falls below or flies above the state's radar."
"Oh, it can happen right in the sight of the state's radar, too. The point is that it doesn't register with the state as either bad or good."
"So my friends are, basically, invisible."
"Yes!" Lawyer clapped Student on the back.
"What are Student and his invisible friends going to do?" asked Director.
"Resist."
"Invisibly?"
"That's the trick. They have to be invisible to the state, but visible to other resistors, both active and potential."
"And how do they manage that?"
"Yes," said Student, "do they speak in code?"
