"How was your trip?" asked Director
"Awful."
"Why?"
"The same thing happens every time I go back there. I get forced into my old role."
"Who does the forcing?"
Therapist sighed. "Are you suggesting I'm the one?"
"No, I'm just asking."
"Well, yes - I assume the role. It's my responsibility, my fault."
"Before you go down that road, what's different about the way you are here and the way you are there?"
"I've made so much progress in my life here, and when I go back there it's as if it all was for nothing."
"How so?"
"Here people listen to me. My words resonate. There it's as if I'm speaking another language, or as if I have no voice at all."
"Do you change the way you speak or are you the same?"
"I change - the old role."
"What was that role?"
"Everybody's friend."
