"My cat is infested with parasites."
"That's awful," said Director. "What kind?"
"They don't know for sure. They just see them in there and my poor little friend is wasting away."
"There's nothing to be done?"
Dancer shook his head and looked away. "I'm thinking of putting him down, rather than see him suffer so."
"I'm sorry."
They walked some time in silence through the woods.
"It's a beautiful summer afternoon," said Director.
"Yes," said Dancer absently.
"How's the dancing going?"
"I'm thinking of giving it up."
Director stopped walking. "But why? You're so good at it."
"I could be doing more with my life."
"Like what?"
"Going back to school for my degree."
"So you can do what?"
"I don't know. Maybe I'll become a veterinarian."
