"You don't want people to see into your cave?" asked Director.
"Of course not. Why would I? What about you with your windows. Did you have blinds?"
"Of course I did."
"Did you always leave them open?"
"No."
"When did you close them?"
"When it was customary to do so - at night. But I didn't close all of them."
"Why not?"
"The custom was that people leave some of the blinds open to give the sense that they have nothing to hide. But they close some for what they do wish to hide."
"Were you so concerned with custom? Why not just do what you wanted to do with your blinds?"
"But what would I have wanted to do with them? It didn't really matter all that much to me whether they were open or closed, except insofar as it concerned certain needs of the body. And the meeting of those needs took place, by custom and practicality, in certain rooms, rooms where I closed the blinds." Director paused for a moment. "Tell me, Caveman, do you have such great needs of the body that you require a cave to hide them?"
Caveman laughed. "Hardly!"
"Then why the cave? Do you not like people?"
"I don't like people getting into my business - in any way, shape, or form."
"Neither do I."
