"Please, have a seat, Director, Student."
"Thank you, Teacher," said Director. "And thank you for having me. I understand it's quite unusual not to have the parents here for such a meeting."
"Oh, no worries! I respect their wishes to have you speak on their behalf."
"So what's the matter?"
"Student hasn't been to class in two weeks."
"Any class?"
"No, just mine."
"Student, what do you have to say about this?"
"What can I say?" asked Student.
"Does it have anything to do with the fact that Teacher's course is experimental, the first time philosophy has been offered in the high school? Surely there are some kinks to work out."
"I guess."
"Teacher, was there anything that seemed to trigger Student's truancy?"
"It started with the second semester," said Teacher, "when I introduced creative writing to the class."
"I didn't sign up to write stories," said Student.
"Nor was I expecting to have to judge a story like yours."
